Port Royal Spring “Blackberry Knock Out” and Native Planting - April 2023
April 22, 2023 from 10:00am to 12:00pm

Earth Day planting and invasive blackberry removal event along the Port Royal shoreline will take place on Saturday, April 22 from 10 am to 1 pm.
No pre-registration required. Community members are invited to meet at the south end of Holly Avenue (south off Salter Street) in Queensborough.
Bring your whole family, gather a group of your collegues, or challenge your friends. Refreshments for volunteers will be provided. There will be a limited number of work gloves, rakes, clippers, and shovels available. But, participants are kindly asked to bring their own tools (e.g., spade shovels, clippers/loppers, gloves, etc.), if possible.
Help improve biodiversity and enhance the native shoreline habitat along a popular nature trail.
This event is organized by the Queensborough Special Programs Committee (QSPC) with support from a City of New Westminster environmental grant.
In addition to this event, the QSPC is asking the public to submit sightings of bats, amphibians, salamanders, snakes, owls, and mammals in Queensborough. Sightings can be submitted online to the Queensborough Biodiversity Project on iNaturalist (see below). The QSPC is grateful for help from local biologist Greg Ferguson who will be on hand at our Earth Day event to answer questions about this project.
